Closer cooperation between Finland and Russia in energy efficiency Sergei I. Shmatko, the Energy Minister of Russia, and Mauri Pekkarinen, Minister of Economic Affairs, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between Russia and Finland in the sectors of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

Task force proposes extensive support package for Finland’s shipyardsIn a report presented to the Minister of Economic Affairs, Mauri Pekkarinen, on 14 January 2010, the shipbuilding industry task force appointed in September 2009 proposed a package of measures designed to support Finland’s shipyards. The aim of this package is to facilitate the survival of Finnish shipyards and related companies through the present economic crisis.

Service directive enforced: services - point of single contact to openService businesses’ transactions with licensing authorities will be simplified in all European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) Member States by the end of 2009. The EU Services Directive obliges all EU and EEA countries to set up a so-called point of single contact through which information is available on licences, notifications and regulations applicable to service businesses. The aim of these measures is to facilitate the establishment of a service business in another country and the cross-border provision of services. |
