YES – Equality is Priority
Equality project in the fields of employment and the economy
The objectives of the YES project are awareness-raising and capacity building on equal treatment and non-discrimination, as well as promotion of diversity within Finnish society. The Ministry of Employment and the Economy participates in the project by implementing activities promoting equality and diversity in labour market and entrepreneurship.
The Ministry of Employment and the Economy implements during the YES6 Project (from 15 January 2013 to 14 January 2014) a Diversity Management Programme, where the objective is to promote diversity management in the public and private sectors. The Diversity Charter -concept, which was launched in Finland in October 2012, will be further developed in cooperation with the Finnish Business and Society (FIBS). Four workshops on diversity management will be organised for the private sector, a webpage and a data bank on the best practices of diversity management will be established and a manual and a check list for the development of diversity management practices will be published. In addition, a mapping exercise on diversity management in the public sector will be carried out.
Latest information about equality and diversity in labour market as well as publications produced by former YES projects for employers, workplaces and everyone interested in developing working life can be found on this website. The publications present equality legislation, good practices on diversity management, as well as solutions and forms of support for employing people with a disability or people with a partial capacity to work.
