Karelia

The Karelia Programme supersedes the Euregio-Karelia area of the previous programming period, covering Kainuu, Northern Ostrobothnia, North Karelia and the Republic of Karelia. The adjoining areas include Lapland, North Savo, the Murmansk, Arkangel and Leningrad areas and St. Petersburg.

The programme seeks to strengthen cross-border economic cooperation, promote cross-border trade, and improve quality of life with the help of cross-border measures in the programme area.

Indicative EU funding for the programme totals around 23.2 million euros. The programme managing authority is the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia.
