Timo Mattila temporary Director General of the Finnish Competition Authority
The Ministry of Employment and the Economy has appointed M.Sc. (Tech.), M.Soc.Sc. Timo Mattila Director General of the Finnish Competition Authority between 1 May 2012 and 30 April 2013. Mattila resumes the duties from the position of an Assistant Director.
Mattila has been employed by the Finnish Competition Authority for thirteen years. He has acted as a Senior Research Officer, Head of Research and Head of Unit.
The Finnish Competition Authority monitors adherence to the Competition Act and the EU competition rules, and promotes effective competition by various ways. The agency is subordinate to the Ministry of Employment and the Economy.
The present Director General of the Finnish Competition Authority Mr Juhani Jokinen transfers to the Ministry of Employment and the Economy for a year to head the programme for sound and effective competition.
